Brake for Moose!

Yesterday morning we saw a moose for the first time on the property. The white patches are likely evidence of hair loss caused by rubbing off winter ticks. This moose didn't seem too bad off in that respect. We've seen photos of moose with virtually no hair left! Winter ticks can be a big problem for moose.

April snow showers

. . . bring May flowers? We received two inches of snow overnight. This should all be gone by the end of Friday -- sun and much warmer temps expected.

Saturday pictures

While walking Saturday afternoon, a porcupine quickly climbed a tree after hearing human feet moving through the forest. The sun's reflection in the spring and two big red maples are also seen below.

Turkeys on the move

Snow can cause problems for turkeys. We've been hearing and seeing some now that the thaw has just about been completed.
